Possessive pronouns are words that show ownership: they tell us who something belongs to. We use them so we do not have to repeat the noun again. Read the article below and try the exercises at the end.

The main pronouns are: mine, yours, his, hers, its, ours, theirs.
For example:
- That pen is yours. → It belongs to you.
- The jacket is his. → It belongs to him.
- Look at the building, its windows are big. → The windows belong to the building.
Notice something important: we use possessive pronouns alone, without a noun after them. We say:
- This is mine. (not: “mine book”)
- The car is theirs. (not: “theirs car”)
