What are these? Pronouns are words that replace nouns in a sentence. They make our sentences shorter and less repetitive. For example:
- Maria is my friend. She is very kind. -> “she” is a pronoun that replaces “Maria.”

Common Mistakes with Pronouns
1. Mixing subject and object
Wrong:
Mary and me went to the store.
Right:
Mary and I went to the store.
Use subject pronouns (I, he, she, we, they) before the verb.
Use object pronouns (me, him, her, us, them) after the verb or preposition.
2. Confusing possessive adjectives and possessive pronouns
Wrong: This is my.
Possessive adjectives (my, your, his, her…) need a noun:
✔ This is my book.
Right: This is mine.
Possessive pronouns (mine, yours, his…) replace the noun:
✔ This book is mine.
3. Using reflexives incorrectly
Wrong: She saw herself in the park.
(= she saw her reflection?)
Right: She saw her in the park.
(another woman or girl)
👉 Use reflexives (myself, yourself, himself…) only when the subject = object: ✔ She hurt herself.
